Davie's Thanksgiving food drive for Broward school families runs to Nov. 17. Here are the 18 items it takes, the five drop-off sites and their hours.

The Town of Davie is collecting food for Thanksgiving meals for Broward County Public Schools families in need. Donations are taken at five town buildings through Tuesday, Nov. 17.

The town is running the drive with Harvest Drive, Inc., a nonprofit that works through Broward schools. Donations will give students and families a week’s worth of groceries and perishables to complete a Thanksgiving meal, the town said in its Nov. 2 announcement.

What to bring

The town asks donors to bring only these items and make no substitutions:

  • boxed mashed potatoes
  • canned sweet potatoes
  • canned cranberry sauce
  • stuffing
  • soup
  • peanut butter and jelly

Who Harvest Drive helps

Harvest Drive says its mission is to provide food and other necessities to Broward County schools’ families in need. Those include gently worn clothing and gently used household items. It also aims to teach students about hunger and get them to lead the work against it, according to the town’s announcement. More is on the Harvest Drive website.
