Tree Tops Park and Pine Island Ridge
The state’s Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail lists Tree Tops Park as free to enter, open daily 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It describes Tree Tops as the more developed of the two, with fields, playgrounds, picnic shelters, restrooms and a visitor center, and a wetland boardwalk where purple gallinules live year-round and ducks gather in winter. Pine Island Ridge is reached by a trail that starts behind the Tree Tops visitor center. The oaks draw migrating songbirds in spring and fall; 17 species of warbler have been recorded. Horseback riding is allowed.
Vista View Park
The town describes Vista View, off SW 142nd Avenue north of Orange Drive, as distinguished by its rolling hills, a rare sight in South Florida. Paths for biking and jogging, horse trails, shaded playgrounds and a splash pad make it a full-day park.
Robbins Preserve
The town’s Robbins Preserve and Robbins Lodge sit at 4005 S. Hiatus Road, where the town also holds events such as its fall tree giveaway.
Town trails
Davie posts a page for each of its multi-use trails, with maps:
On shared trails, slow down and speak up before passing a horse so the rider knows you are there.
