Davie will give 100 veterans a $30 restaurant voucher for Veterans Day week. Pickup starts Oct. 19; restaurants have until Oct. 18 to sign up. Who qualifies.
The Town of Davie will give 100 local veterans a free $30 meal at a Davie restaurant around Veterans Day. It is the sixth year the town has run the Veterans Voucher Program.
Vouchers go out from Monday, Oct. 19, while supplies last. Davie restaurants that want to take part have until Sunday, Oct. 18, to apply, the town said in an Oct. 5 announcement.

Which veterans qualify
The voucher is for veterans who live in Davie and were honorably discharged. Bring two documents, one from each list.
Proof that you live in Davie, one of:
- a valid driver’s license
- a utility bill
Proof that you served, one of:
- a DD214
- an NGB-22
- a Florida driver’s license with the veteran designation
- a military retirement card
- a Veterans Affairs medical card
Vouchers are handed out at the Pine Island Multipurpose Center, 3801 S. Pine Island Road. There are 100 of them, one per veteran, and the town says they are available until supplies last.
A voucher has no cash value and does not cover alcohol.
How restaurants take part
A restaurant must meet three conditions, according to the town:
- it is inside the Town of Davie
- it holds a valid Business Tax Receipt
- it has no outstanding code fines, liens or open code cases
The restaurant fills in the town’s restaurant participation form by Oct. 18. Town staff review each application.
Each $30 voucher is shared. The restaurant puts in $5 and the town pays $25. The town reimburses restaurants for redeemed vouchers the week after the program ends.
What it means for you
If you are a Davie veteran, the town hands vouchers out only until its 100 run out, so going early in the pickup window is the safe choice. If you own a Davie restaurant, the sign-up closes in nine days.
The town has not yet published the list of participating restaurants. We will add it here when it does.
Questions go to Chad Pezoldt in the town’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department at 954-797-1151. For other events this fall, see things to do in Davie.
